|Rev. Dr. Doug Showalter -- firstname.lastname@example.org|
Zadock and Dicea moved to Christian Co. [later Trigg Co.], KY, possibly by 1800. In 1809 Zadock and Dicea sold 150 acres of land lying on the Cashie Swamp in Bertie Co., to TURNER BAZEMORE, Dicea's brother [Deed Book V, pp. 286, 291]. Land was patented to Zadock in Christian Co., KY on 18 Dec 1811, in a section which later became Trigg Co.
On 23 Oct 1815, presumably after the death of Dicea, Zadock married SALLY RUCKER RUTTER in Caldwell Co., KY, possibly her third marriage. Zadock and Sally had one child, MALINDA THOMAS [b: abt 1819] who married REUBEN HARRIS 31 Oct 1832, Caldwell Co., KY. Zadock died in Caldwell Co., KY in 1829, and his will was probated 20 Oct 1829 [Will Book A, p. 425].
Zadock is said to have had the following siblings:
--ELISHA THOMAS--m: POLLY BURNE on 15 Oct 1805 in Bertie Co., NC. Their children, most of whom are mentioned in Elisha's will [Bertie Co. Will Book 1, May, 1826], are said to have been:
--RICHARD THOMAS--m: SARAH BARNES, 1800, Christian Co., KY. Richard and Sarah's children are said to have been:
--WINIFRED THOMAS--m: ISHAM WILFORD on 7 Sept 1801 in Bertie Co, NC. Zadock Thomas was authorized in 1823, in Trigg Co., KY, to administer the estate of Isham.
Isham and Winifred's children are said to have been:
--SALLY THOMAS--m: JOHN BRABOY on 26 Nov 1800 in Bertie Co., NC.
--JAMES THOMAS--m: ELIZABETH BARNES on 4 Aug 1806 in Christian Co., KY. Zadock Thomas was authorized in 1825 in Trigg Co., KY, to administer the estate of James.
[Possible additional siblings of Zadock Thomas:]
--FANNY THOMAS [b: abt 1807]--m: DUNNING KENNEDY on 24 Jun 1824 in Trigg Co., KY.
--LOUISA (Lucy) THOMAS [b: abt 1802]--m: ROBERT WILEY RHODES on 2 Jan 1817 in Christian Co., KY. Robert was born abt 1794 in Bertie Co., NC. His father likely was EPHRAIM RHODES who brought Robert from Bertie Co. to western KY. [SEE MY WEB PAGE ON RHODES] [My line is traced through this couple.]
